Cut Down Wear and Tear<\/h2>\n

Your teeth are unbelievably strong. However, they can still be worn down. All of the chewing, grinding, and biting wears away the enamel, which is the hard, outer layer of your teeth.<\/p>\n

You will not be able to erase a lifetime of wear and tear, without having it restored by a dentist, but you can definitely keep it from getting worse. Don’t chew on ice or other hard foods. Chewing on hard foods can cause chips in your enamel and even break teeth.<\/p>\n

Keep Your Gums Healthy<\/h2>\n

Bacteria, which is called plaque, is always forming in your mouth. If you don’t remove it, it can cause soreness, swelling, and bleeding in your gums. If it doesn\u2019t get taken care of, it can even cause infections that will hurt the bone underneath.<\/p>\n

Your dentist will treat serious gum disease, called periodontitis. If you don\u2019t take care of bacteria build up, it could potentially harm your gums and bones. This could lead to removing some teeth.<\/p>\n
